Happy 2017! Alex has been encouraging me to start blogging again..so hear we go. My vision for 2017 is to encourage other women, wives and mamas for the glory of God. I often find myself searching for other blogs written by Christian wives and mothers to learn from…it is my hope to be an encouragement as well (God willing).
I decided to change my blog’s name to twentyfour:fifteen in reference to Joshua 24:14-15
14 “Now fear the Lord and serve him with all faithfulness. Throw away the gods your ancestors worshiped beyond the Euphrates River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord. 15 But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”
I just finished studying the book of Joshua and love this verse. Now, I know this is a verse we see on home decor at Hobby Lobby and coffee mugs, but hear me out. Most of us take this verse out of context…was Joshua telling the Israelites to choose God or no God at this exact point in time? The Israelites knew God already. He had led them out of Egypt to the promised land, guiding them the entire way. Joshua was asking them to recommit to The Lord, remembering all He had done for them. They needed to choose God daily (but it’s only by His grace that we are able to choose Him).
Just like the Israelites, we must daily choose to die to self and choose Jesus.
Entrust Jesus for strength for the day.
Seek Jesus for strength to love your husband.
Choose Jesus for strength to love your children.
Abide in Jesus for strength to make your home warm and inviting.
Pray for your daily bread and to trust Jesus will fill you with life.
My hope for this new year is that through this blog, together, we would choose Jesus for the important work He has given us…to love our husbands and children like He loves us.
May we pray for grace in order that we would choose Him daily.
All things wife. All things mama. All things home. All for His glory.
